Arrangements are being made for the ceremonial opening of the Phase I (part of upper school) of re-constructed Sri Sumangala College by the Hon. Ratnasiri Wickremanayake, Prime Minister of Government of Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and HE Kiyoshi Araki, The Ambassador of Japan along with Hon. Susil Premjayantha - Minister of Education, Hon. Reginold Cooray - Chief Minister-Western Province on 27th September 2007 at 1015 Hrs.
Also the opening of the newly constructed Buddhist Shrine donated by Ms. Punyakanthi De Silva at the request of the OBA and the opening of plaque to mark the commencement of the works associated with the construction of a Swimming Pool by one of the distinguish old boys of Sri Sumangala College, former Lions Governor, Deshabimannya Rohantha De Fonseka will take place on the same day.
It is expected a large distinguish gathering including the members of Maha Sangha, Hon. Ministers, Parliamentarians, Officials from Embassy of Japan, JICA, JICS, Government Institutions, Staff of Sri Sumangala College, Students, Parents, Old Boys and well wishers.
